If one had to choose a day for having an Oyster Tasting, then the first Sunday of November would be the day of choice. The weather was just right (not too hot, and not too cold), the location was lovely (oysters served right on the banks of the York River), and the assembly of friends old and new made the day complete.
In addition to oysters served up by our willing volunteers, there was Brunswick Stew, clam chowder, slaw, and hushpuppies to round out the menu. A stiff breeze off the water kept everyone on their toes, though many of those toes were happily tapping to the music of [insert band name].
We’d like to extend a special thanks to our premium sponsor, Davenport & Company, for underwriting this event, and to all of our loyal donors. All told, we had over 90 people who registered for the event and 74 folks who could make it to the tasting – though sadly, some poor souls had to turn back due to traffic issues on the Gloucester side of the Coleman Bridge.
Below are some pictures from the event. We hope to see you all next year, and tell your friends!
