Jacob’s Ladder Names Dr. David Niebuhr as Executive Director

Dr. David H. Niebuhr, Executive Director

The Board of Directors is pleased to announce Dr. David H. Niebuhr as Executive Director of Jacob’s Ladder, effective October 21, 2019.

Dr. Niebuhr is an expert in strategic planning, project management, and fund development. He earned his Ph.D. in Biological Oceanography at the College of William & Mary and an M.B.A. in non-profit leadership. He has managed more than $9.0M in funded education projects and has a broad background as a leader in the non-profit and education communities.

Known for his enthusiastic and engaging style with his students and subject matter, Dr. Niebuhr’s reputation as an educator lead him to be selected to develop and teach science education programs as part of a joint US-China program sponsored by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. In this role, he served as the education and outreach expert on NOAA’s Oceans and Human Health Initiative National Advisory Panel and the NOAA NERRS Blue Ribbon Strategic Planning Committee.

There are many things about David’s life experiences that transcend his background in educational leadership. Indeed, he’s had so many unique (and sometimes unusual) experiences that his sister refers to him as Forrest Gump.

Dr. Niebuhr is excited to be working with Jacob’s Ladder, considering it “a tremendous education and life-skills program for gifted, at-risk kids“.

The Board of Directors unanimously support the selection of David as Jacob’s Ladder’s new Executive Director and look forward to working with him, anticipating many more years of success.
